Flash Fiction is something I have been meaning to get around to for a long time. In late August, I entered my first competition – FLASH 500 runs 4 a year with an open theme and I sent off a rather random entry sparked by an idea vaguely prompted while sitting idly at a café in Crete – not that Crete features at all in the 500 words, but a bit of people watching inspired a thought …
Two months later, I was on the long list, then the short list, and this week I heard that my 500 word flash had been placed 4th.
Here is the short report to be found on FLASH 500’s website
Highly Commended: Dust to Dust
A haunting tale of regret that packs a neat surprise ending.
We regularly receive several hundred entries each quarter, so those making the long and short lists should feel very proud.
Thank you, FLASH 500 – I do!
