Who is Jude Hayland?

I am a writer of fiction

I began my writing career as a commercial short story writer for women’s magazines and wrote for both the UK and international markets for over 25 years before turning to full length fiction. I now write novels and tutor creative writing classes and lead workshops.

My first degree was in English Literature, leading to a career alongside writing of teaching English and Drama.  My Master’s degree in Creative and Critical Writing (Distinction) led me to switch to full length fiction and I have now written three novels and am working on my fourth. I also write some flash fiction.

London feels like home – I was born there, grew up, studied, worked and lived there for many years – although I have now lived in Winchester, Hampshire for over 20 years. I also spend a lot of time in North West Crete in the beautiful Apokoronas district in a village between the sea and the White Mountains. I am the proud mother of one adult son and also possess a couple of independently-minded cats.
