I’ve not had much time for reading of late, but titles have been off-putting to me for some time now. Louis L’Amour put out how many books, yet you give me one of his titles, and not only can I tell you who the main character was, but a precis of the story. Why? Because the title was connected with the story, not from an ephemeral (at least for the memory) kitchy way, but “The Man from Skibereen” lets you know right upfront it’s about an Irishman. L’Amour only sold 320 MILLION copies of his 100 novels (as of 2010).

I really think you are on to something. Keep it short. Keep it memorable. And, keep it applicable.
