Thank you! A friend of mine has said that our generation is better at occupying ourselves in these ‘deprived’ times since we were children who grew up given time to be bored, play by ourselves, left to our own devices for hours on end – not carried around to numerous after school activities, every hour filled with something purposeful! That’s so true, I think.

Jude , have so enjoyed your pieces over the last few weeks, they really resonate with our life as it is now and make us reflect on our thoughts and feelings.

A fascinating piece which resonates so much this weekend.
We may have escaped the war years but perhaps our stalwart approach to a more restricted way of life results from an upbringing by parents who endured more than we could ever imagine. Your mother’s diary entries are a wonderful lesson in facing up to the destructive and dangerous world around her and yet, still valuing tea and sandwiches when it was over.

Beautiful piece of writing . Lovely to have insight into the the then and now and makes us realise that, unless we are personally involved with the COVID virus the we have been been liberated from the world of rushing and always saying only I had time.
And I now realise that I only ever have time for things I enjoy!!
